Course Prerequisites
The minimum age to obtain a Yellow Card is 16 years (subject to each state regulatory body).
Applicants under 18 years of age will have a Restricted Yellow Card issued, marked with an ‘R’.
The restriction will only allow the Operator to operate an EWP under direct supervision of an
Unrestricted (over 18) Yellow Card holder of the same EWP class. be able to speak and understand English, understand technical concepts, and provide suitable photo identification. There are no other licence prerequisites required for this course.
Course Overview
The Yellow Card Training Program has been designed for people needing to develop the skills and knowledge required to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs or commonly known as EWPs). The course will provide training in the safe use of various types of elevated work platforms including boom type MEWPs with boom length under 11 metres. Participants may complete singular or multiple modules, depending on the type of EWP they will be operating.
The EWPA Operator Training Program or “Yellow Card” was created as the result of the EWPA working with industry, helping them to comply with the WHS/OHS/OSH Acts and regulation.
This Yellow Card program was designed to ensure that the Yellow Card holder is trained in the safe use and operation of various types of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs or commonly referred to as EWPs).
The EWPA Yellow Card provides ‘evidence’ of this training. The overall intention of the Yellow Card Program is to assist operators, employers, equipment owners and manufacturers to more easily be able to comply with the WHS/OHS/OSH Regulation.
